Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Lydd Primary School website.

Lydd Primary School is part of Our Community Multi Academy Trust. We are committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible and to meeting the requirements of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

We want everyone who visits our website to be able to access the information they need, regardless of technology or ability.

Where possible, users should be able to:

  • zoom in without text becoming unreadable or disappearing from the screen;

  • navigate the website using a keyboard;

  • use screen-reading software to access website content;

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings; and

  • access information without having to rely solely on colour, sound or images.

Advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability is available through AbilityNet's My Computer My Way service.

Compliance status

The website has been assessed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

The Lydd Primary School website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 AA standard because of the non-compliances and exemptions described below.

Non-accessible content

We are continuing to review the website and have identified some areas where content may not yet be fully accessible.

Documents

Some older PDF, Word and PowerPoint documents may not be fully accessible to users of screen readers or other assistive technology. Issues may include:

  • documents without properly structured headings;

  • tables that are difficult for screen readers to interpret;

  • images without suitable text alternatives;

  • documents that have been scanned or created primarily as images; and

  • documents where reading order or colour contrast may not meet current accessibility standards.

We are reviewing documents as they are updated and will seek to ensure that new documents published on the website are accessible.

If you need any document in an accessible format, please contact the school office.

Images and image-based information

A small amount of historic information on the website may be presented as an image or graphic. This may not always contain an adequate text alternative for people using screen readers.

We will replace or provide text alternatives for important information where issues are identified.

Third-party and embedded content

The website contains links to and embedded content supplied by third-party organisations. Examples may include videos, maps, virtual tours, forms or other external services.

We cannot always control the accessibility of third-party platforms, but where an accessibility problem prevents someone from obtaining information or using a service, we will provide an alternative wherever reasonably possible.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 may be exempt from the accessibility regulations unless they are required for an active administrative process or are essential to accessing a service.

Some third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by us and is outside our control may also fall outside the scope of the regulations.

We will nevertheless try to provide an accessible alternative where reasonably possible if someone is unable to access information.

Disproportionate burden

We are not currently relying on a disproportionate burden assessment to justify any of the accessibility issues identified in this statement.

Should this change, we will carry out an appropriate assessment and update this statement.

Feedback and reporting accessibility problems

We want to continue improving the accessibility of this website.

If you find an accessibility problem that is not listed in this statement, or believe that we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us:
